The Old Yard has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
Diagonal boards to the back and a lower shaped plinth.

It has been dry scraped back to it's original paint finish with remanants of later paint layers showing.
Despite it's age this interesting piece is in a solid condition, with honest historic repairs including paint to the lower panels and scars from ancient woodworm.

These traditional Irish dressers had coops in the lower section to house hens or other fowl, keeping them indoors kept them safe and also the warmer temperatures encouraged more egg production all year round.
