Antique Mahogany Wellington Chest

19th century
Description

A lovely mahogany Wellington Chest dating from the late 19th Century. It is a traditional design with 5 drawers flanked by square pillars with carved corbels. The right hand pillar is hinged and locks the drawers in place when closed. It is a well made and a good quality piece with an overhanging top and a plinth base.

It is in good condition and displays well with a lovely rich patina. There are signs of age and use and some minor marks and knocks but nothing detrimental. The back of one knob on the bottom drawer is chipped (see photo). The drawers are generally clean and tidy and all run smoothly and it comes with a working key. It has been cleaned and lightly polished and is ready for use.
