Constructed from solid padauk wood, a richly coloured and highly durable hardwood native to the Indian subcontinent.The piece is designed in two sections for ease of transport, a typical feature of military chests intended for use by officers who moved frequently between postings. Its top surface is finished with a beautifully carved gadrooned edge, adding a refined decorative element that continues around the base. The front is arranged with two short drawers over three long ones, providing generous and practical storage.
