An Ecclesiastical Italian Carved Olive Wood Figure Group of Mary, Joseph and Jesus

This superb, rare Italian hand carved olive wood religious figure group of Jesus with Mary and Joseph.

Joseph is standing with a lantern in one hand and his other arm is around Mary’s shoulder, who is sitting with young Jesus on her lap.

The figure group is hand carved from a single piece of dense olive wood, which has a beautiful, rich golden colour with dark graining.

The carving has developed a very good patina through age and handling. It is in very good original condition with no damage.
