FAQs

Early 20th-century landscape oil paintings frequently capture realistic depictions of rural scenes, often influenced by traditional pastoral motifs and atmospheric lighting techniques.

Artists during this period often utilized heavy-duty millboard, pasteboard, or card substrates primed with gesso before applying layers of oil paint.

Authentication involves examining the canvas or card substrate for age-appropriate oxidisation, inspecting the pigment composition under magnification, and checking for period-correct framing and monograms.

Pairing historical art with contemporary minimalist surrounds creates a striking focal point, allowing the rich textures and muted colour palette to anchor the room.

Keep paintings away from direct sunlight and fluctuating humidity levels, and clean the surface periodically with a soft, dry brush handled by a professional restorer if necessary.
