Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Shropshire dresser is a traditional British regional furniture piece typically characterised by local timber usage, specific cornice designs, and integrated shelving or cupboards flanking a central plate rack, distinguishing it from Welsh or West Country variants through subtle joinery details and proportions.

These pieces were predominantly constructed from solid quarter-sawn oak, often featuring hand-cut dovetail joints in the drawers, pegged mortise and tenon construction, brass hardware, and vertical tongue-and-groove planking on the backboards.

Authenticity is determined by examining the timber patination, tool marks consistent with period hand-planing, hand-forged or period-appropriate brass handles and escutcheons, and natural shrinkage cracks and oxidisation appropriate to the age of the wood.

An antique oak dresser can be integrated into contemporary spaces by contrasting the warm wood tones with neutral walls, using the open shelving to display minimalist ceramics or glassware, and balancing the heavy visual weight with clean-lined modern seating.

Preserve antique oak by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber splitting, applying high-quality beeswax periodically to nourish the grain, and avoiding synthetic silicone-based polishes.
