Richard Anthony Rush Antiques has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
This chest of four long drawers has nice compact proportions & is of a quality that is better than most. The fluted columns are of a flattened C-shaped section that can only be crafted by hand (not turned on a lathe). The capitols at the top of each column have an inlaid ebony disc & at the bottom of each column, the supporting block has an inset boxwood disc. This lovely detail ties in with the top of the chest which has a boxwood stringing to the upper edge & an ebony stringing to the bottom edge. The whole chest is beautifully constructed using the best materials, highly figured veneers to the drawer fronts & English oak for the smooth running drawers.
