In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
It has pierced brass handles with swan neck drops which, although are not original, suit the style and age of the piece very well. The lower section contains three graduating drawers on simple bracket feet and the top section contains three small over three long drawers. The piece splits into two parts to make transport easier.
The mahogany drawer fronts have a lovely grain and have developed a beautiful patina and the oak sides have a nice rich colour.
The whole piece is in good condition. It is strong and sturdy and the oak lined drawers are generally clean and tidy and all open smoothly. It has been well maintained over the years and as such has some small old repairs in places but nothing untoward. There are some minor signs of age and use, some small surface marks and knocks but nothing detrimental. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
