Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This set of three graduated nineteenth-century Victorian Chinoiserie jugs is made from ceramic ironstone with a sage green glaze and gilded floral decorations. Each piece has an octagonal body, flared lip and ornate moulded scroll handles, complemented by slight rubbing of the gold finish showing signs of age. The large jug measures 14 cm by 16 cm by 13 cm, the medium jug measures 12 cm by 13.5 cm by 11 cm, and the small jug measures 10 cm by 11 cm by 9 cm. Display these graduated ironstone jugs together on a dining room sideboard top or a kitchen shelf as decorative tableware in an English Country House interior. The matching ceramic pieces coordinate naturally with traditional sideboards, dressers or open shelving where the sage green glaze and gilded patterns stand out against neutral timber surfaces.

Patented in Staffordshire in 1813 by Miles Mason, ironstone china was developed as a durable alternative to imported porcelain, frequently featuring oriental and chinoiserie patterns with rich gilding.

Traditional ironstone is a vitreous earthenware incorporating feldspar, clay, and flint, decorated with glaze transfers and hand-applied gold gilding.

Authentic pieces typically bear impressed or printed maker marks on the underside, exhibit heavy vitreous weight, and feature distinct moulded details such as octagonal bodies and hydra handles.

Graduated sets can be arranged along a dresser shelf, used as decorative displays on a sideboard, or placed inside a glazed cabinet to highlight their gilded detailing.

Dust gently with a soft microfibre cloth and avoid harsh chemical detergents or abrasive scrubbing, as aggressive washing can wear away delicate surface gilding.
