18th century
Sold 21 December 2025 · D & J Hunt Antiques
This “Pretty Georgian Pine Welsh Cottage 2 Piece Waxed Dresser” found a buyer.

It was listed by D & J Hunt Antiques. Sold pieces stay on Sellingantiques as a record of what has passed through, and the next one is rarely far away.

Description

This dresser is in good condition. We have professionally stripped and restored it and then waxed it in a lovely antique brown bri wax giving it a stunning patina.

The dresser would look well in an old or modern property amongst similar antique pine furniture for storage. This would look great in a small country cottage kitchen.

The dresser stands on georgian bracket feet supporting the main section. There are two large doors. Each door has one panel that has a pretty shape to the top. Behind the doors there is a half shelf for storage. Above the doors there are two large drawers with round turned wooden knobs. They are pine lined and have dovetail joints. The top is in good condition with a bull nsoed edge. The rack section sits neatly upon the base with dowles. There are two shelves and a flat cornice that has a pretty carved section beneath.

The height is 189cm, the width is 116cm and the depth is 50cm.

Delivery Terms

WE OFFER FREE DELIVERY TO ENGLAND, WALES, AND SCOTLAND (BELOW PERTH)

Shipping /delivery is equally as important to us as the item of furniture itself. It is simple; we deliver everything personally in England / Wales so this way we are 100% sure that the item / furniture reaches our customers safe and sound. We NEVER use couriers. Delivery is generally within 7-14 days of purchase. We guarantee delivery anywhere in England / Wales within 21 days of purchase.

Deliveries to Scotland as far north as Perth are guaranteed within 6 weeks of purchase. If delivery is required above Perth in Scotland please contact James on 07957 392 074 or

james@davidhuntantiques.com for a price.

Deliveries are either carried out by David or James as one member of the team is required to stay in the warehouse, therefore we do require assistance from the van into your hallway with the item of furniture. We have set delivery days and once the van is loaded (a day prior to delivery) David will call customers to arrange a two hour delivery time slot. Customers will also receive a text when delivery is 30 minutes away.

It is really helpful if customers can provide their ‘what3words’ location to make delivery as smooth

as possible, especially properties in rural locations.

Ireland Deliveries

We do use a very good courier company called DVM Service to deliver goods to Ireland. We ask the customer to pay this company direct for the delivery charge and we then liaise with DVM regarding collection of a customer’s item of furniture to be shipped to Ireland.

Europe & Rest of the World

We do not ship to Europe or the Rest of the World.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originally developed in Welsh farmhouses during the 18th century, these dressers combined open shelving for displaying ceramic tableware with enclosed base cupboards for storing food and household provisions.

Authentic pieces are typically constructed from solid yellow or red pine, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawers, pegged mortise and tenon framing, and traditional waxed finishes that develop a rich patina over time.

Key indicators of age include hand-sawn timber boards with irregular thickness, original iron or wooden hardware, hand-planed surfaces, and signs of historical wear and timber shrinkage consistent with age.

It serves as a functional focal point in a kitchen or dining room, providing open display space for contemporary ceramics or vintage stoneware while adding warmth and textural contrast to neutral walls.

Maintain the finish by avoiding direct sunlight and excessive heat, dusting regularly with a dry cloth, and occasionally applying a traditional beeswax polish to nourish the timber and protect the surface.
