Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Welsh oak dresser bases originated in rural Wales during the 17th and 18th centuries, initially used in farmhouses for food preparation and storing tableware before plate racks were added to the upper section.

These pieces were typically constructed from solid local oak featuring hand-cut dovetail joints, pegged mortise and tenon framing, and natural timber panels that accommodate wood movement over time.

Authenticity is identified through hand-planed surfaces, irregular tool marks, period-appropriate timber shrinkage, original backboards, and period fixings such as brass or turned wooden knobs.

An antique dresser base works effectively as a grounding focal point in contemporary dining rooms or hallways, styled with minimalist ceramics, modern lamps, or abstract art to create a balanced contrast.

Preserve the wood by keeping it away from direct heat sources and sunlight, dusting regularly with a dry cloth, and occasionally applying traditional beeswax to nourish the finish.
