Victorian mahogany Wellington chest
This Victorian mahogany Wellington chest was made circa 1865.
Wellington chests were named after a British hero of the Battle of Waterloo, The Duke of Wellington.
This style of chest was the first domestic office filing cabinets and the delightful, graduated drawers could be locked using 1 key, when the locking bar was closed.
The Wellington chest is a pleasing design as they are slim and have the graduated drawers.
There are many different grades of this type of chest. Our example would be classed as at the top end of the grading.
There are 7 graduated drawers, all fitted with the original turned knob handles, and the well carved corbels each side of the drawers.
Antique Wellington chests are fabulous pieces of furniture for the home, they are so versatile as they can be placed in so many locations.
Imagine the pleasure ownership of this Victorian Wellington chest will give you, and the interest it will generate from your family and friends.
