In 1951 Dauchot was awarded the Prize of the Society of Art Collectors. He exhibited at the prestigious Galleries Durand-Ruel and Katia Granoff in Paris and internationally, with
Hattfield Gallery in Los Angeles, Juster Gallery in New York, and the O'Hana Gallery in London.
Former French president and avid art collector Jacques Chirac praised Dauchot's work in a speech, and actress Greta Garbo was known to be a collector of Dauchot's work.
Here is an exquisite small oil on canvas from the 1950s, the period of Dauchot's first success, combining freshness and virtuosity with his characteristic wistfulness. Please note that the painting is unsigned. It was acquired from a collection of Dauchot's work along with another work by the artist, and I guarantee the artwork's authenticity.
The painting measures 22 x 27 cm. Having been painted on a reused canvas with thick impasto by the artist, it has a slightly uneven surface. The overall framed size in a traditional "Montparnasse" frame is 32 x 46 cm.
