A rare English pottery ‘Tartan Coat’ Toby jug, c. 1830. Modelled as a typical Toby jug, but unusually decorated with the seated man, wearing a Tartan overcoat. He holds a lace jug of frothing beer in his left hand, and a pipe in his right hand.
The canted base, decorated in underglaze cobalt blue and white.
Having a simple loop handle, with a thumb piece.
All under a pearlware glaze.
