A fine and dramatic landscape oil on canvas titled ‘Clouds on the Wolds’ by Clive Browne 1901-1991. The landscape depicted is typical of the Lincolnshire Wolds with rolling hills and open skies, and captures beautifully the sun shining from behind the clouds. The work is in excellent untouched condition and is signed to the lower right Clive Browne. Clive Browne 1901-1991 was a painter, mainly of landscapes in oil, and a teacher of art, born in Keelby, Lincolnshire. He attended St John’s College, York and trained at Grimsby Art School, and under Herbert Rollett. Browne was a member of North Lincolnshire Art Society and of Lincolnshire Artists’ Society, he also exhibited at The Royal Academy, Royal Cambrian Academy, Royal Society of British Artists, Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool and at the Paris Salon.
