1940s Gents Landeron chronograph watch.
The watch has a Landeron 47 movement which is working nicely. The calibre 47 was a groundbreaking chronograph movement, the first cam-actuated chronograph on its introduction in 1937. It used three buttons (start, stop, reset in crown) unlike most other movements.
The watch measures 34mm diameter excluding the winding crown, buttons and lugs. The case is plated while the case back is stainless steel. The case has light wear and marking but is very acceptable for a 1940s piece. The back of the watch has markings, including the military arrow, which state that the watch is capable of timing intervals to an accuracy of one fifth of a second. Such watches were issued to the Army’s Air Observation Post crew.
The lens is in lovely condition.
The dial is in its original finish which has a nice warm hue. There is a little marking to the dial but again, very acceptable. When the chronograph is started, the minute recorder jumps forwards one minute.
A later leather strap has been fitted.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
