Robert Belcher Antiques has dated this piece to the 1900s.

This stand is produced in a rich chestnut brown stone, cleverly cut across a dark solid vein.
The upper section has been carved in the predominately green stone with several inclusions of the lower brown. This detail would have needed planning and great perception from the artist carver.

The upper section is a marvellous large continuous landscape carved with great skill and multiple layers of three dimensional detail which include a range of mountains with wooded areas dotted with pagoda roofed buildings sitting on rocky ledges and a temple spire in the distance. The foreground shows a river or lake with a small boat and three people.

This is the largest example of this type of work I have ever seen and offers a rare opportunity to purchase.
This stunning piece of fabulous late 19th century carved artwork is in excellent original condition.
