A stunning and atmospheric maritime scene by Pierre Bordenave. Bordenave was born in Paris in 1900. He was educated at the Bernard Palissy School of Design, Painting and Decoration in Paris. After starting his own business in design and illustration he returned full time to painting.
He was an influential Paris artist and a member and participant in multiple Salons, including the one of the Societé Nationale des Beaux Arts.
In 1958 he won the Grand Prix du Conseil General de Seine-et-Marne. He exhibited in numerous group and solo exhibition all over Europe.
Our oil on canvas by Bordenave is signed and dated 1970 at the lower right. The overall size in a natural oak frame is 57.5 x 69 cm.
