The Vintage Wrist Watch Company has dated this piece to the 1890s.
The watch has a 17-jewel stem-winding movement which is working nicely. This is a good quality movement with screw set jewels and Hampden Star patent regulator.
The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has been engraved, ‘D A Cripps, from Mother’. There is some scratching to this inner cover.

The watch measures 48mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the loop. The case is the 14k gold filled Dueber Special full hunter model. It is nicely decorated on both the front and the back. There is a little unevenness to the front and back covers but not too noticeable on the outside.
The acrylic lens is in good condition, one short 3mm scratch to the edge.
The dial is signed has three short hairlines but they are faint. Lever set hands.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
