C19th Anglo-indian Carved Padauk Pedestal Sideboard.

Description

C19th Anglo-Indian carved padauk pedestal sideboard.

Finely and profusely carved padauk Anglo-Indian pedestal sideboard of inverted breakfront form , The twin pedestals each with carved ‘sun-burst’ type panels to the doors and ends ,interiors fitted with a cellarette drawer and shelves respectively. Heavily carved gadrooned bases with an ovolo or ‘egg-snd-dart’ carved edge to the top.

The 3 frieze drawers fronts carved with roundels ,together with leaf and floral details with corresponding carving to side returns. Fitted with an elaborate carved and pierced shaped upstand back . The whole raised on turned bun feet.

In excellent original condition, the high grade quality of well-selected padauk has achieved a rich , deep colour and patina. The top having a minor shrinkage crack along the grain to one end .

Provenance : A local Worcestershire family by descent , acquired in British India during Government Service .
