Night Scene Oil Painting by Frank Hughes

A fine and interesting oil on canvas night scene by Frank Edward Burnham Hughes 1905-1987. A truly exceptional piece of painting beautifully capturing a farmstead in almost complete darkness in a typically mid-century style. The painting is in excellent untouched condition and is ascribed to the artist on the reverse. Frank Hughes was born at St Pancras, London and studied at St Martin's School of Art. He was influential in the London art scene of the time and exhibited at The Royal Academy through the fifties, he was also a full member of The New English Art Club. This is a great example of his work and ability and is mounted in a modern frame. C.1950.
