This is a fine antique English Georgian oak dresser base, from the country of Shropshire, with three drawers, displaying a lovely mellow colour, circa 1750, in excellent condition. The Shropshire dresser incorporates a single-plank oak top decorated with mahogany cross-banding and a mahogany cross-banded frieze, with three working drawers below. The three drawer fronts display good quality period replacement brass swan neck handles on fretwork escutcheons. The deep apron below is decorated with further mahogany parallel cross-banding detail. The drawers retain the original working steel lever locks, with a key. The original oak lined drawers are constructed with fine hand-dovetailed joints and close flush to the frame. The Georgian oak dresser base stands on its original tapered block legs and the sideboard retains its original back boards. The 18th century dresser has been constructed in the traditional method using joined construction.

This is a fine antique English Georgian oak dresser base, from the country of Shropshire, with three drawers, displaying a lovely mellow colour, circa 1750, in excellent condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, frame and top, including inside of drawers, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The oak dresser boasts a single-plank top, which is quite rare. As it is such a large piece of timber, there is shrinkage in places (see photos). The drawers are decorated with fine quality period replacement brass swan neck handles on fretwork shaped escutcheons and hand dovetailed joints. All three drawers retain their original steel lever locks, with a working key. The 18th century dresser also retains its original legs all and backboards all of which are in good overall condition. The Georgian oak dresser base boasts its original patination. The oak sideboard has been cleaned and wax-polished in our workshop, in order to revive the colour. The oak dresser is well constructed, solid in joint with no loose movements and is ready to be used.
