An early George III period, elm country chest of drawers, Circa 1760. This solid elm chest of drawers, with handsomely figured timbers throughout and attractive aged patina. The rectangular shaped top with thumb moulded edge. Bank of cock-beaded edged drawers, with brass double swan neck brass handles, brass escutcheons, locks and key. Drawers configured with two small side-by-side drawers, over three full width drawers, all graduated in height. Moulded base and raised on bracket feet. Solid elm carcus with pine drawer linings.
A very well presented and rare chest of drawers. Only very few elm examples exist of this age, and even fewer in this condition and of this standard.
In very good working condition, serviced, thoughtfully cleaned and waxed, now very much ready for use.

...is chest of drawers is in an overall very good condition, commensurate with its age, and is structurally very sound and sturdy. Some characterful marks and blemishes, and appealing aged patina. Some minor, high quality running repairs. The brass handles are replacements, though are age and style correct. The locks all function, with a working key, cut from a period correct key. All drawers run well. No loose joints. Fully serviced, delicately and thoughtfully cleaned to retain the wonderful patina and original finish. Wax polished, now ready for use. - As with all vintage & antique furniture there will be signs of use, marks, wear & tear, etc.
