This is a fine quality antique Victorian Scottish landscape oil painting of a highland loch, surrounded by Scots pine trees, by F. E. Jamieson, circa 1900, in its original gold leaf frame, in excellent original condition. The artist was famous for how he romanticised the Highlands, popularised by Queen Victoria. F. E. Jamieson sold his pictures to wealthy tourists during the late Victorian and Edwardian period.

The Victorian Scottish Loch oil painting depicts several Scots pine trees standing on the banks of the loch, in front of small hills, with steep sided mountains further in the background and a small grass outcrop in the foreground.

The artist has a good way of depicting the sun catching the tops of the mountains, and showing still depth of the water, as the sun sets. The timing of the day is emphasised by the warm pink and orange colours on the mountains and the darkness of the foreground.
