Louis Icart ( 1888 - 1950 ) Etching and Aquatint on paper, framed and signed in pencil on lower right border and ''blind stamp'' windmill and number on lower left border.
 
The Etching ''La Tosca'' has copyright 1928 by L. Icart, Paris and was published by Les Graveurs Modernes, 194 rue de Rivoli, Paris. The plate measures 52cm x 33cm - the overall measurements including the frame are 84cm x 61cm. Reframed recently. Excellent condition. Any ''shiny marks'' are reflections of the light and camera.
 
Louis Icart was a French artist best known for his drawings of glamorous women - often erotic or humorous in tone - as well as for his depiction of 1920s Paris life. He was born in Toulouse in 1888, and began drawing at a young age. in 1907 he moved to Paris and began studying painting, drawing and printmaking. Influenced by Jean Antoine Watteau, Francois Boucher and Jean Honore Fragonard. He was a major figure in the Art Deco Period, with his work surging in popularity in The United State...
