Antique silver Minerva pocket watch chronograph.

The watch has a stem-winding movement by Minerva, probably calibre 19.9, which is working nicely.

The 19.9 (the ninth 19 Ligne Minerva movement) first appeared around 1908 and was in production until the early 1940s. By the mid-1910s, Minerva was producing stopwatches capable of measuring to 1/100th of a second, vital when it came to accurate time recording for the ever increasingly popular motor racing.

The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has some unevenness.

The watch measures 49mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the case backs for London (import mark) 1911 with a sponsor’s mark of GGG for George Guillaume Gautschi, trading as De Pury, Gautschi & Co, gold and silver watch importers.

The case has a little unevenness to the back but overall is very acceptable for a piece of its age.

The acrylic lens is in lovely condition.

The dial is in beautiful condition. Two subsidiary dials, one for constant seconds and the other to record up to 30 minutes.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
