Hill & Millard Secretaire Military Campaign Chest, Circa 1875

Description

A very smart and excellent quality mahogany secretaire brass bound military chest. Offered in wonderful original condition, made in 2 parts with removable feet for ease of travel. The secretaire drawer with its original gilt tooled decorated leather skiver with an arrangement of figured walnut veneered drawers and letter rack. One drawer with inset plaque reading "Hill & Millard, Military Outfitters, 7 Duncannon Street, London" patented 1873. In addition fitted with an arrangement of catches and hidden buttons to give access to 2 velvet padded secret drawers.

Whilst we deal mostly with mahogany furniture of the Georgian period designed by some of the greatest furniture designers such as Chippendale, Sheraton, Hepplewhite and Adam we also have a very good in depth knowledge of all the main periods of English furniture design from early oak to Regency and Victorian.
