Vicky Thomas Antiques has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
In one, an old man wanders across the street supported by a large staff - you can almost hear the birds, and the sound of chickens scratching in the back gardens of the cottages, and the gentle murmur of voices coming from the pub.

Created by a highly skilled and very talented hand, the slightest lines and shading bring to life the houses, with great depth and solidity - if you study the pictures, every mark is perfectly made with no room for error.

Both pictures come mounted under card and glass and are in painted wooden frames. Framed they measure 61cm by 50cm, with the actual image measuring 57cm by 47cm. The frames show signs of surface wear to be expected, but are both strong and sturdy

The mounts are exactly the same / same colour - it was really difficult to photograph the two together without the light reflecting back, so there are no marks on them it's just the background reflecting!
