This stately 19th Century French Directoire Style walnut Commode exudes the understated elegance for which the style is world renowned; exhibiting a lovely finish and beautifully aged, rich patina it is in good antique condition.
It showcases the beautiful walnut and burr walnut from which it is crafted; the three capacious drawers are each accessed with original squared brass bale pulls and the original oval brass medallion style escutcheons adorn the centre of each drawer. Four hand turned fluted tapering legs provide support and the commode stands well.
The overall design is quite restrained, as is the style's dictum, allowing it to showcase the sheer natural beauty of the wood making it a handsome piece with Classic lines demonstrating wonderful proportions.
