The 19th-century Swiss school is characterised by topographical precision, meticulous attention to natural light, and romanticised depictions of Alpine topography and lakes.

These works typically utilised graphite, ink, or wash on rag paper, housed within hand-carved wooden frames featuring fitted mounts and protective glass.

Authentication relies on examining paper fibre composition, watermark evidence, ink oxidisation patterns, and the traditional joinery and ageing characteristics of the wooden frame.

Positioning the piece against neutral walls allows the historic details and wood tones to stand out, complementing both contemporary minimalist and traditional study spaces.

Keep the artwork away from direct sunlight and fluctuating humidity levels, using UV-filtering glass and acid-free backing boards to prevent paper degradation.
