Description

Gents silver wrist watch, 1930.

The watch has a Swiss 15-jewel hand-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement has been identified as by Fabrique d'Horlogerie de Fontainemelon.

The watch measures 32mm wide excluding the winding crown and 32mm high excluding the fixed lugs. The case is silver, and there are hallmarks inside the case back for London (import mark), 1930, together with a sponsor’s mark for George Stockwell. From 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail.

The case is in good condition with just general light surface marks, nothing too detrimental.

The lens is in good condition.

The dial looks good to the naked eye. If viewed through a jeweller’s loupe, there is are some very faint short hairlines around number 4.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
