FAQs

Meiji period bronzes were produced in Japan between 1868 and 1912, a time when metalworkers shifted focus from weaponry to intricate decorative art destined for international export and domestic display.

These pieces were typically cast in bronze using the lost-wax method, often featuring multi-patinated surfaces with gilt highlights and mounted on custom carved wooden bases.

Authentic pieces often bear artist signatures or foundry seals, exhibit exceptional fine detail in chasing and patination, and feature heavy, high-quality bronze casting combined with traditional wooden stands.

Place the sculpture as a focal point on a sideboard, mantelpiece, or dedicated display table where its metallic texture and historical depth can be fully appreciated against neutral backdrops.

Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth and avoid chemical cleaners or excessive handling to preserve the natural oxidisation and patinated finish of the metal.
