Vicky Thomas Antiques has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
The first painting depicts a woman heading home with the catch of the day in two pails, passing sailors mending their nets after a day at sea - in the background a castle nestles at the foot of snowy mountains, twinkling in the distance.
I really love this one, especially the way the shafts of light emanate out of the clouds - it really is a wonderfully atmospheric little painting.

Both pictures are behind glass and have matching gilt gesso frames. The frames have the expected signs of wear for their age but are in sound condition, and as I hope the photographs show look really handsome together.

The paintings measure 28cm by 22cm framed, and 19cm by 14cm for just the actual image.
