This fine commode relies almost entirely upon highly figured bookmatched olive wood veneers for its decoration, with just a half-round moulding and a slightly overhanging top to create additional visual interest. The olive wood is of an exceptional colour with a lot of variation in tone and grain and, additionally, the two drawer fronts have been inlaid with swags, also of olive wood, and a harebell in the case of the upper drawer. As well as the two obvious drawers, there is a third narrower example disguised in the frieze.
The piece stands on stylised, slightly ogee, bracket feet.
