Charles Edward Wilson 1853-1941.Watercolour artist exhibited 1889-1929.Born in Whitwell,Notts.Studied Sheffield School of Artists,lived in Sheffield.Exhibited 40 works at Royal Academy,61 works at Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours and elsewhere . The work of Charles Edward Wilson is always intensely personal with a rare feeling for the beauty and colour and rendered with a charming grace of line.His paintings capture the picturesque and romantic aspect of his subject and at the same time display an inspirational power.His workmanship can only be described as superb. Many would argue that Wilson with his fine ,sound workmanship in a style which has not been matched by many later watercolour artists with the same amount of truth and value. ‘ Laying a Good Foundation ‘ signed watercolour dated 1905; image size 31x21cms,framed size 56.5x45.5 cms.The watercolour is framed with a top quality modern giltwood frame with a double wash line mount and has True Vue Museum Glass protecting the artwork from ultraviolet light; provenence : with Baron Fine Art ( £14000 price ticket verso). I have two further fine examples by this excellent artist in stock
