A stunning circle of Samuel Alken (British, 1784-1825) work of good proportions depicting three horses in pasture, two to the foreground and one to background, under an atmospheric sky. The work is signed 'S. Alken 1806' to the lower right.

The work has craquelure throughout with some small areas of paint loss (please see photographs). The work is housed in a substantial period gilt wood frame which has some small losses to the extremities, most notably to the lower left corner.

A well executed work that certainly draws the eye.
