14th/15th Century Oak Carved Pieta South Germany/Low Countries

Beautiful and detailed pieta from the 14th/15th century carved out of one piece of oak.

The pieta depicts the dead body of Christ on the lap or in the of the Virgin Mary in a very well detailed manner, i.e.

the scars of the crucifixion, muscles on the corps and facial expressions of Christ and the Virgin Mary.

The pieta is most probably made in the south of Germany or in the low countries i.e. the Netherlands around thew 14th or 15th century.

The pieta measures a height 44cm (17.25 Inches), a width of 41cm (16 Inches) and a depth of 17cm (6.75 Inches)
