Gents 1950s Timor Wrist Watch

Gents 1950s Timor wrist watch.

The watch has a 17-jewel Felsa 690 Bidynator automatic movement which is working nicely.

Early automatic watches had been powered with bumper movements. Rolex subsequently developed a full rotor system where the rotor moved in one direction - this movement was protected by a patent. Felsa subsequently developed an automatic movement where the rotor moved in both directions and this bi-directional was duly named the Bidynator.

The movement is signed with the Timor name.

The watch measures 32mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case is chromium plated while the screw-on case back is stainless steel. There is light marking to the plate but overall very acceptable for a 1950s piece. The case back is signed with the Timor name, it also states that the watch is waterproof but, as with any vintage watch, it should be kept away from water and moisture.

The lens is in good condition (some reflection showing in the photos).

The signed dial has some light marking, and some fading to the numbers in places. Original hands (the infill has been removed over the years), and red centre seconds hand with pointer end.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
