Louis Philippe Commode in Figured Walnut with Marble Top

Description

This beautiful quality figured walnut Louis Philippe commode dates to the mid 19th century and has its original grey marble top. The walnut has a lovely colour and grain pattern, whilst the marble has white veining and is grooved around the edges, with rounded corners. The drawers are opened by pulling them out with the key, leaving the wood to be the star of the show, unblemished by further metal furniture. This is a great piece for any home or traditional reception area, providing functional storage, a good display surface for flowers such that the marble will not be damaged by water, and at the same time presenting the quality of a French antique.

Dating to circa 1860, this is made of figured walnut and marble, and originates from France.

In good age related condition, the original marble is not chipped and the key is available for the working locks.
