An unusual French marble top commode in burr walnut in the Louis Philippe style with chamfered corners decorated with carved scrolls and raised mouldings, standing on further raised and moulded feet…

Circa 1860 and a wonderful rich colour with a mellow beeswax glow.

The commode chest of drawers offers a total of five drawers, four of which have working locks and there is a hidden drawer to the plinth.

The original shaped and moulded edge marble top makes this a really practical piece of furniture, so you can place a big vase or lamps etc without the fear of scratching. The charcoal grey and white veined marble contrast with the rich burr walnut, as do the solid brass drop handles too.

Impressive piece of antique French furniture, great storage but is super decorative too.
