Antique silver Waltham pocket watch and chain.

The watch has a 15-jewel stem-winding movement, grade 420, which is working nicely.The movement has a Breguet hairspring for enhanced precision, a Church 1892 patent regulator and nicely patterned plates with screw-set jewels. The movement is fully signed and the serial number 12,182,244 dates it back to 1903. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the two case backs for Birmingham 1905, with a case maker’s mark for Aaron Dennison. Dennisons was an English case maker, and supplier to Waltham UK. The front and sides of the case are in good condition. The case back has some fairly gentle unevenness.

The watch glass has a couple of little marks but not too detrimental.

The dial has a couple of short hairlines around the subsidiary seconds dial but they are quite faint.

The watch comes with a single silver chain, 35cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. The T-bar is hallmarked for 1909 with a maker’s mark for Booth & Biggs. Each of the links would originally have had the lion silver mark but most have rubbed off over the years.

The watch and chain come in a new presentation box.
