Small French Fruitwood Bombe Commode or Chest of Drawers

19th century
Description

This lovely bombe commode or two drawer chest exudes quality and will fit nicely into a small space. It has a beautiful colour and patina, with the character wear which is desirable for an antique piece, this having a relatively early date at the turn of the 19th century, circa 1800. With original ormolu drawer furniture and foot decoration, it has a serpentine front and cabriole legs, but is not overly ornate and has a pleasant simplicity to its design.

Dating to the turn of the 19th century, circa 1800, this is made of fruitwood and originates from France.

In good age related condition, this has the minor wear expected for an antique of this era. There is a small chip in the wood to the top of the apron, below the base of the lower drawer, and some minor splitting to the base of the drawers which is normal for a piece of this age and does not affect function. There is no key, although the locks are present.

In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
