Antique Silver Buren Pocket Watch, C1924

Antique silver Buren pocket watch and chain.

The watch has a 7 jewel stem-winding movement, signed Buren, which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has a surface scratch where a tool has slipped in the past.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the back covers for London (import mark), 1924, with a sponsor’s mark for William Sparrow.

The case has engine turned detail to the back with a central vacant cartouche. There is some unevenness to the back of the watch but not too detrimental.

The glass lens is in good condition.

The dial is in lovely condition and has blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.

The watch comes with a silver double chain, hallmarked for 1915. Each chain measures 19cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. All the components bear the same hallmarks and each of the links has the lion silver mark. There is also a 1950s hallmarked silver fob with a hallmarked 9ct gold shield to the front. Engraved on the reverse KLJL 1953-4.
