Dating relies on stylistic clues, construction methods, and materials recorded across the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Victorian pieces often display heavier carving or ebony inlay, while Edwardian examples tend toward lighter satin walnut frames.

How should I care for burr walnut?

Keep walnut furniture away from direct sunlight and sudden temperature changes to protect the delicate veneer. Regular dusting with a dry cloth maintains the finish without moisture damage.

Where were these tables used?

They served in drawing rooms, bedrooms, and parlours as convenient surfaces for lamps, books, and decorative objects. The lower shelf provided accessible storage for reading materials.
