How do I dismantle a large wardrobe?

Many nineteenth-century pieces utilise internal metal bolts and interlocking sections designed specifically for dismantling. Systematic removal of the cornice, doors, plinth and side panels allows safe transport. Enlisting professional assistance ensures that heavy timber components and delicate mirrored doors are handled without damaging historic joinery or original fixings.

Will a knockdown wardrobe fit my room?

Knockdown construction was originally invented to navigate tight domestic staircases and narrow Victorian hallways. This modular engineering makes contemporary placement entirely manageable. Verifying ceiling height and doorway clearance before delivery ensures the assembled carcass sits comfortably within your intended bedroom layout.

How do I care for antique pine?

Pine surfaces finished in wax benefit from periodic gentle re-waxing to nourish the timber and maintain a soft lustre. Avoid placing pieces near direct heat sources to prevent wood splitting. Regular dusting with a dry cloth keeps the surface clean without stripping historical patination or altering the character of painted finishes.

What is a combination wardrobe?

A combination wardrobe integrates multiple storage formats, typically uniting full-length hanging space with linen drawers and central shelving compartments. These versatile interiors reflected changing domestic storage needs. Compactum variants often include dedicated spaces for waistcoats, hats and folded garments alongside traditional hanging rails.
