What subjects appear in these works?

The works primarily depict Yorkshire landscapes, village scenes, and historic structures like castles and bridges. Townscapes from locations such as Lincoln also form a significant portion of the subject matter. Agricultural life, farm buildings, and local inhabitants frequently animate the rural views, providing a record of the region.

How should I display a watercolour?

Watercolours require careful framing behind glass to protect the paper and pigments from dust and physical damage. Direct sunlight causes fading, so placement away from bright windows is essential. Maintaining stable indoor humidity levels prevents warping of the paper support and protects the integrity of the drawing.

What periods do these paintings span?

The listed works date from the early to the mid twentieth century. Pieces originate across decades including the nineteen tens, twenties, thirties, and forties. This timeline reflects the active working life of the artist through changing artistic movements in twentieth century Britain.

Are these works unique originals?

The listings consist of original watercolour paintings, drawings, and ink sketches rather than prints or reproductions. Each sheet represents a direct, singular creation by the artist. In some instances, works derive from documented sketchbooks and books of drawings compiled during specific years.
