What is a gueridon table used for?

These small circular tables serve versatile roles in a room, functioning as bedside surfaces, lamp tables or places to hold drinks and small objects. Their compact footprint allows them to sit easily beside seating or in corners. In period interiors they often held candlesticks or floral arrangements, whilst today they provide practical display space without dominating a floor plan.

How do I identify a Louis XV style gueridon?

Louis XV style tables typically feature cabriole legs, subtle curved lines and delicate floral or foliate carvings. They often incorporate parquetry tops, shaped aprons and gilt bronze mounts. Later nineteenth and early twentieth century revival pieces replicate these eighteenth-century organic curves and decorative restraint with considerable technical skill.

What is the difference between a centre table and a wine table?

Centre tables are designed to stand free in the middle of a room, often featuring finished ornamentation all the way around and heavier proportions. Wine tables are generally smaller and lighter, intended to be moved easily beside chairs or sofas. Both forms share the characteristic circular top of the gueridon tradition but serve distinct spatial functions.
