FAQs

Victorian washstands were essential bedroom pieces used for personal hygiene before plumbed bathrooms became standard in homes, typically holding a basin, jug, and accessories.

These items were predominantly constructed from dense hardwoods such as mahogany, walnut, or pine, frequently paired with thick slabs of marble to resist water damage.

Authentic pieces exhibit period joinery techniques, natural material aging, original marble slabs with specific veining, and structural wear consistent with nineteenth-century use.

This piece works effectively as a console table in a hallway or a bathroom vanity, contrasting historical textures with contemporary surroundings.

Maintain the wood with appropriate beeswax polish, protect marble surfaces from acidic spills using specialized sealants, and avoid excessive moisture exposure.
