This Georgian corner washstand is made from mahogany with a warm brown colour and brass hardware. The structure has three tiers, starting with a curved splashback holding a small upper shelf, followed by a middle bow-fronted shelf fitted with a central drawer flanked by two false drawers with small knob handles, and splayed legs connected by a shaped lower shelf. Natural signs of age appear on the timber surfaces and hardware. Measuring 105 cm high, 47 cm wide, and 47 cm deep, this item fits into an empty corner in a bedroom, hallway, or living space today as a decorative display table or storage unit.

A corner washstand is a triangular furniture piece designed during the eighteenth century to hold a water pitcher and basin in a dressing room, maximising space efficiency.

These pieces were predominantly crafted from solid mahogany or oak, featuring dovetail drawer joints, turned legs, and brass hardware fittings.

Authentic period pieces display signs of hand-planed timber, hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers, age-appropriate surface oxidisation, and original brass fittings.

An antique washstand functions well as a compact corner accent table, a hallway display stand for houseplants, or a bedside unit in compact spaces.

Dust regularly with a dry microfiber cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish annually while keeping the piece away from direct heat sources and sunlight.
