Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of plant stands comes from around 1900, created in a Chinoiserie style. Each piece uses hardwood finished with a cream painted surface and later paint decoration, paired with an inset marble top displaying natural brown and reddish tones. The square frames include carved floral friezes along the aprons, decorated square legs, and claw feet at the base, alongside visible surface wear and aged patina on the paintwork. In terms of dimensions, each stand measures 48 cm high by 34 cm wide and 34 cm deep. These items serve practical purposes in a modern home as display furniture for decorative objects or potted plants. Owners typically place them in an empty corner, a sunlit conservatory, or a hallway to add surface space and traditional decorative detail to the interior scheme.

FAQs

Originating during the Qing dynasty, these stands were traditionally crafted to display prized bonsai trees, porcelain vases, or decorative incense burners in formal reception rooms.

These pieces are typically constructed using dense hardwoods such as rosewood, zitan, or Elm, combined with flush-set marble slabs and traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery.

Authentic examples feature hand-cut joinery without modern screws, subtle variations in relief carvings along the aprons, and natural veining within the inset stone tops.

They function effectively as accent side tables beside seating, as elevated pedestals for indoor greenery in a bay window, or flanking an entryway console.

Clean painted wooden surfaces with a soft dry cloth and avoid harsh chemicals, while dusting marble surfaces and wiping spills immediately with a pH-neutral cleaner.
